SACRAMENTO, CA (Dec. 1, 2021) – SDI Racing, LLC, has announced the return of the Legendary Sacramento Mile Flat Track motorcycle races to the famed Cal Expo Fairgrounds with the Progressive American Flat Track national series coming to Sacramento on Saturday, August 20, 2022. The Sacramento Mile will be the 14th event on the 2022-race AFT national tour. The world’s premiere flat track motorcycle racers will make their 57th appearance in the Capitol City which dates back to 1959 at the historic one-mile dirt track at the California State Fairgrounds. SDI Racing, LLC, hosted a first-time AFT doubleheader weekend at Cal Expo last September after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. “We are excited to bring back the Progressive AFT motorcycle races in 2022 at Cal Expo,” said Steve DeLorenzi, president and CEO of SDI Racing, LLC. “This year, we had many hurdles in promoting the doubleheader at Cal Expo in a short period of time. However, we wanted the racing fans to see the incredible handlebar-to-handlebar motorcycle action of the AFT national riders. And we produced a safe racing surface and some of the best racing in the AFT circuit. “Now, we have the more time working with the AFT and Cal Expo officials to develop another great event that has been the Legendary Sacramento Mile for decades. The Aug. 20 Saturday night program will be an event that every motorcycle fan will want to witness once again.” Progressive AFT SuperTwins national champion Jared Mees won his fourth consecutive Sacramento Mile event in September and will lead a strong field back to Cal Expo on Aug. 20.
