The elder men symbolizes the father and the girl who deeply urge for the fathers love gets attracted to the older men. by Bright sunshine » Fri Nov 25, 2011 7:47 am. Well, say it was a girl who was bullied throughout her childhood and adolescence by guys her own age and had a father who lived with her but didn't contribute much in her life. She pretty much felt left out by everybody and never received love from anybody. Does that still mean that the attraction towards older men is really looking for a father figure? by paulo111 » Fri Nov 25, 2011 7:36 pm. At a guess, as a rule older guys seem to be more calm and collected, perhaps in settled jobs, more of a man, than an immature boy. I have heard in the past women dig out someone who will look after them, a father type figure in some ways. Plus they may have a settled life, good job, motor, flat etc. paulo111 MVP Posts: 2880 Joined: Sat Sep 22, 2007 8:39 pm Location: Derbyshire, England Likes Received: 0. by fenichel » Sat Nov 26, 2011 5:24 am. Oedipal desires find expression in a disguised form. Women marry their fathers, men marry their mothers. Yet the substitute fathers and mothers cannot be obvious substitutes. fenichel Full Member Posts: 159 Joined: Wed Dec 31, 2008 2:32 am Location: Northern United States Likes Received: 3. by fenichel » Sat Nov 26, 2011 5:28 am. Apparently she felt safe with her father and unsafe with her male peers, thus it is safety she is seeking. Safety and security in the arms of a significantly older man. The movie "Breezy" directed by Clint Eastwood explores the old man young woman theme quite well. fenichel Full Member Posts: 159 Joined: Wed Dec 31, 2008 2:32 am Location: Northern United States Likes Received: 3. by Newliferules » Sun Nov 27, 2011 6:45 am. But not a direct replacement. More a fictional replacement. The girl desired safety and positive recognition. She didnt experiment it herself, but recognized a likeness between how she imagined that that feeling would feel like, and the feeling / expression she saw in other girls/boys (with loving fathers). Meaning, she saw the emotions she desired in other childrens reaction to love from THEIR fathers. So as a result of not experiencing these emotions herself, she imagined how they would feel like - and found resemblence in the smiles, laughter, hugs between fathers and other children. Thats how it became connected. Fictional emotion = a fathers love. And so it also became a subconscious desire. Child psychology is very different from adult psychology. A child will rationalize more directly than an adult. "They called it a special task and gave it to me, therefore they must see me as special" Maybe she had a mother that was somewhat loving / caring. But since that didnt remove the pain / hurtful feelings. There had to be something else. Where did she lack love? The father. "If he behaved like THAT I would be feeling THIS" So in this theory - an attraction towards older men is the little girl trying to find her (fictional) desired emotions in the age group she connects to finding it in. Maybe not only the age group, but also within certain characteristics? The safe, understanding and confident older man - aka.
